greypoppies: Betty Blythe in The Queen of Sheba (1921). The role of Sheba was originally intended for Theda Bara, but Bara chose not to renew her contract with Fox Studios after an agreement couldn’t be reached with producer William Fox. The film is well known for Blythe’s risqué costumes, a rarity in Hollywood films at the time. The topless scenes from the movie were included only in the European released version of the film. Unfortunately, this is another lost film with the only remaining negatives destroyed in a vault fire in NJ, 1937. In a bit of good news, a 17 second fragment of the film was found in May 2011.
